Connection, Collaboration and Communication

I began this two week road trip with the Province V Youth Ministry Network meeting in the Diocese of Milwaukee on March 16. This weekend I complete the road trip with the Province VII Youth Ministry Network at All Saints Camp and Conference Center in the Diocese of Dallas. Between the two, I have spent time with the Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers Summit Design Team in New York, the Nathan Network at College for Bishops in North Carolina, and the Episcopal Youth Event mission planning team adults in northern and metropolitan Minnesota.

It has been an interesting Lenten journey that has included Sunday morning worship at The Church of Heavenly Rest near Central Park one Sunday, and worship at St. Antipas in Red Lake on the Red Lake Reservation in Minnesota the following Sunday. Planning meetings for future mission and ministry abound. Questions about how we are called to teach, preach and invite new Christians are clearly hot topics.

The thirst for connection, collaboration, and communication feels universal.

It is such a joy to sit with youth ministers and those committed to lifelong Christian formation in settings both formal and not; worship driven or not. Gatherings are full of fellowship and story in all scenarios.

The Episcopal Church is truly a vast network of Good News, excellent mission and ministry, and common prayers. It is a privilege to be one of those who gets to function as connective tissue for the Body of Christ.

I offer my prayers of gratitude and look forward to greeting many of you in Minnesota this summer at EYE.

More on that topic soon. The full planning team meets at the end of the month to fine tune details. The meeting will be followed with packing lists, prayers, and instructions for participants. So stay tuned!
